HOW TO LIVE YOUR LIFE IN JOY

Joy

God created each of us out of a need and in great joy. If we were created in joy, shouldn’t we be joyful? It doesn’t work to say “If I only had such and such I’d be happy,” “If only I had the right man or woman I’d be happy,” or “If I just lost 20 pounds, I’d be happy.” Why wait? Be happy now. “That’s easy for you to say,” you may tell me. Well, I am telling you. You can be joyful if you want to be. President Abraham Lincoln once said “A man is as happy as he wants to be.”

Take joy where you find it. Joy can be in the many little things as well as the big things. God doesn’t think in terms of small or big.
Everything is important. Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Sometimes joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy.”

What do you love to do? What’s fun for you? Is it writing, drawing, painting, reading, going to the beach, walking in the mountains, skiing or gardening? Be creative in your own way. Make time for th things you love. Live in joy, and joy will live in you.

Joy is a by-product of knowing that God is always with you. It doesn’t mean there will be no sadness in your life. Life is change and growth. There are changing relationships or loss. Life just keeps happening. But it does mean that you can live in serenity knowing this truth.

In This Thing Called You Ernest Holmes wrote “As you enter into life, feeling the Divine Presence in everything, more and more you will hear a Song of Joy singing at
the center of your being.”

Some of What I’ve Learned So Far

Before I begin, please take a look at the above website. I’ve revised it. What do you think?

Coco & Baby

Everything is spiritual because everything is Spirit expressing. We may not remember that, but it is true.

I did say I wouldn’t go on and on about my cat, but Coco is a big part of our life. She’s still a kitten and bites. She’s not biting me, but she’s still biting Bill.

The above picture is Coco with a stuffed toy horse that my Garden Angel brought over. For some reason she absolutely loves to play with this little horse.

After having cats most of my life I’m learning more about them. My Garden Angel told me about a TV show that I didn’t know existed. It’s on Animal Planet on Saturdays.

“The Cat From Hell” is a series. The star of the show is a startling sight at first. But, don’t judge a book by its cover. He is a really neat guy.

Here’s what I’ve learned so far:

  • Cats are either bush dwellers or tree dwellers. Tree dwellers like to have perches high up and place to look out on their territory. This helps them feel safe.
  • Don’t hold a cat cradled like a baby. It makes them feel vulnerable.
  • Hold a cat up against your chest with her paws unconfined.
  • When a cat’s tail starts twitching, put her down and leave her alone. She’s had enough.
  • If a cat rolls over on her back and exposes her tummy, she feels safe with you.

Back to Coco. She is recovering well from her surgery and is getting sweeter and sweeter. She is a pleasure and a joy.

THE LIGHT

Be A Light in This World

“A divine force flows out from me into the world.
All I encounter are touched by the divine spark within me.”

Julia Cameron, Blessings

The real Self is…the place where God comes to a point of
Individualized and Personified Expression.
“I am the light of the world.”

The Science of Mind, page 332

Recently I went to a Minister and Practitioner Graduation. The theme song the choir sang was Light of the World. Since that time I haven’t been able to get those words out of my mind and many times during the day I find myself singing the words to myself–“Light of the World, Light of the World, you were born to be the Light of the World…” This morning I woke at 3 a.m. realizing that most of us don’t know the full extent of the truth about ourselves. We have forgotten that each and every one of us is The Light of the World.

Everyone needs a Practitioner at one time or another. Ministers and Practitioners have their own Practitioner who they work with when they are in a place of turmoil. When we are in a place of need, any and all of us can call a Practitioner to help us get back on track. We all must realize and know that we can find the Light within ourselves.

The answer to all of our questions and needs lies within. We have all the help we will ever want or crave. All of us have all of the wisdom, all of the love, all of the peace we could possible want or need for Spirit is always within us. We are born with it. God will be with us to the end of the world and even after that.

Affirmation

I have all the inspiration I will ever need for I was born to be the Light of the World.

LOVE IN THE FAMILY

Welcome To Our Family

A little over a year ago Ida, my kitty of over 16 years made her transition (died). It was very sad for me. She had been a wonderful and sweet companion. Followed me arround. Talked to me. She knew when I didn’t feel good and would cuddle close. I missed her so much I couldn’t think about having another cat for a long time.

Recently I have been longing for a new kitten. My husband Bill was not excited about the prospect of a kitten getting into everything. What would we do with the kitten when we went away, etc. etc. etc.?  A week ago Bill suggested we go to the Cat Show at the Del Mar Fair Grounds. The cats were gorgeous. The kittens were beautiful, but cost $700.

We discovered that Julie, who lives down the street  takes care of rescued dogs and cats until they can be adopted. She does this as a volunteer and still works as an RN at Tri City Hospital. Julie told us she would be getting a new part Siamese kitten in a few days. “Would you like to see it?” Julie asked. “Yes” was our answer.

I was excited about the prospect of having a new Siamese kitten. I began to absolutely know that this was already my kitten. Saturday night Julie brought her over. It was love at first sight. She began purring the minute I held her and hasn’t stopped purring since. She’s playful and sweet.

We are considering the name Coco, as in Coco Chanel. It seems to fit. Here is a picture of Coco, the new member of our family.

SPIRITUAL WISDOM

The Blessings in Our Lives

“It is very important when we receive to give thanks, no matter how small the gift or amount may seem. Constantly give thanks to God for everything that is good in our lives. We are so blessed, but sometimes we are in such a rush, we don’t even notice the extent of God’s gifts. Take the time to notice these blessings. Even more blessings will follow. This is the law of the universe.”

Blessings of Light Mandala

Here is another fabulous mandala created by Sue O’Kieffe. Check out Sue’s Blog at: http://sacred-circle-mandalas.blogspot.com/ What a talent and she also does doodles. I tried to do doodles  but finally settled for coloring mandalas. I’m now addicted. Whoever thought I’d enjoy coloring as much as I did when I was a little girl.
