YOU

Accept Yourself

Wouldn’t it be powerful if you fell in love with yourself so deeply that you would do just about anything if you knew it would make you happy? This is precisely how much life loves you and wants you to nurture yourself. The deeper you love yourself, the more the universe will affirm your worth. Then you can enjoy a lifelong love affair that brings you the richest fulfillment from inside out. −Alan Cohen

How can I accept myself when I can clearly see that I’m far from perfect?  You may ask.

You are perfect. If you would but realize the jewel in the crown that you are, your life would be so much easier. Remember you walk in the Light. You are the Light.

When people compliment you, accept it gratefully knowing that it is the truth.

HOW YOU CAN ACCESS THE POWER WITHIN

A Meditative Guide

The Power Within

An Excerpt: From Here to Serenity,
A Spiritual Guide to Transform Your Life
Author: Gail Manishor

Meditation is almost universally recognized as a way of healing your life. It is by quieting your mind and going within when Spirit speaks to us. We are comforted. We are healed. We begin to recognize our power.

Now is the time for us to let go of the ego-self and align our awareness to the truth that God, our Higher Power, is always within
each one of us. That Power and that Presence which is God is always available for us to use. We are the absolute expressions of
the Most High God. The extent of our awareness of this Divine inner Presence is the extent to which we have control over our
own lives and our own paths. This is the moment we recognize the truth of who we are. We do not have to be victims. We do not have to feel powerless. We are not bits of dust tossed in the winds of time. We are not pawns on some giant chessboard of life, victims  to be used at will by some malignant or uncaring force. We can take control of our lives. We can be masters, not victims. It is a matter of choice. We have all the power we need. God never deserts us. We are never alone. It is up to us to realize the Presence within. We are Divine beings and because of the Presence within we are powerful and creative. We have control of our own destiny.

The Universe is in constant motion as God the Creator creates and recreates. Our life is a process. It is true that there are lessons we must learn and roads we must each travel on our separate paths to enlightenment. Never think for a moment that you are not on your right path. The wisdom within will guide you if you let it. Remain flexible, so that you are ready to follow that guidance on your perfect path.

Through the Law of Attraction as mentioned in Holmes book The Science of Mind and also in Esther and Jerry Hicks book Ask and It Is Given, we are creators. We are always creating whether we realize it or not. We can do nothing and create by default or we can take control of our thoughts, our words and actions and create our life as we want it to be. We are not powerless. We are powerful creators of our own lives and our own destinies.

Always know that today is the first day of the rest of your life. Today is a new day. It is a day you can see yourself as beautiful, perfect and powerful.

Remember–“ask and you will receive.”

Exercise to Rid Yourself of
Depression, Anger and Jealousy

Following is a reexamination of this author’s thoughts on depression and an exercise that came to me. I have realized that life’s lessons continue.

I thought I had come to a place in my life where I had overcome the need to do more forgiveness work, that I was above the petty feelings of jealousy. I wondered why I was depressed, why I was angry. Depression is anger turned inward on oneself.

Once again I began to examine my feelings. Then one day as I was laying on the floor in a Yoga position the realization came to me that I was harboring feelings of jealousy, anger and un-forgiveness. I felt those feelings were in my stomach and it came to me that I could mentally place a spigot in my stomach and turn it on and release all that stuff that I had been storing up. As I visualized turning the spigot to open, all the old garbage of anger, jealousy and un-forgiveness came spewing up. It seemed to shoot out of me and finally dribbled to a stop. I was overcome with the wonder of feeling cleansed. Finally after many months, I was at peace. I knew that Spirit had led me to this point of freedom. Since that time when I become aware of these emotions, I turn that faucet to open and blast them out of me so they do not have time to accumulate into depression. I found this to be a powerful exercise that you too can try.

Affirmation

I now forgive and release myself to my highest and best good. I am free.

MORE OF WHAT I’VE LEARNED ABOUT CATS

Further Adventures With Coco the Cat

Pounce

There’s always more to learn about cats. That’s what makes them so much fun.

The other day my Garden Angel brought over a package of cute little toys for Coco (including some balls with bells in them and little mice with catnip in them (which she loves). She’s now decided it’s more fun to fetch the mice than the balls. She bats them under something. I think there are now at least 3 mice under our refrigerator

The above picture is Coco getting ready to pounce on those feathers above her. She thinks it’s a bird but I think it’s me she’s thinking about pounding on.

She is a delight and so sweet and so pretty. However, she’s biting me till the blood runs. She doesn’t know she’s hurting me. She’s a baby.   So what do we do? We’ve tried all the suggestions.  She’s a cat and we’re having quite a challenge with her. You name it, I’ve tried it: Bitter spray, spray bottles with water, blowing in her face, distracting her, playing with her until I’m worn out, giving her time-outs, and giving her treats when she’s good. It’s not working.

I think we now have the answer. A friend told me about a collar that calms cats.  It’s in a purple and yellow package, has pheromones and lavender in it that calms cats. I brought one home and put it around her neck. She acts like she doesn’t even know it’s there. She is now the sweet and cuddly kitten I wanted from the beginning. She now even cuddles up with me when I take an afternoon nap and I love it.

I thank Spirit for this very cute and now cuddly ball of fur.

Share with me some of your cat adventures.

MEDITATIVE GUIDE

Go Within

Gail Manishor, Author of
From Here to Serenity, A Spiritual Guide to Transform Your Life
www.gmanishor.com

Meditation Garden

Go within or go without. This is a Universal Truth but what does it really mean? As we go within, into our heart center, we can reach the very depths of our soul.  The answer to everything is within. Without, is the outside material world. It is only  appearance and it is misleading.

As it is within so it is without. As above so below. These are ancient truths.

Are you thinking, what on earth is she talking about?  The Creator and the Source of all is everywhere present. It lives within us because it makes up every cell of our very being.  The inner being of us is who and what we are. It is the very essence of life itself.

When we go within in deep meditation, we touch the hem of the garment. We connect with the Divine Essence of our being. Everything is within us.

When there is doubt or fear, look within for the answer.

To go without lies unhappiness and superficiality.

To go  within to the depths of ourself is deeper and yet greater than we can imagine. To leave the depths of ourselves unexplored is a loss of great dimensions. The further in we go the more we find: Love, peace, beauty, wisdom, power. It is all there within. God is within and God is endless.

Daily meditation is the way to peace and joy to the abundance of life. It is the answer to any problem or situation for where God is there is only good.

Meditation takes time, effort and dedication. However, it leads to a life worth living, a joy beyond what we now know.

May your days be blessed with peace, love and joy.

CREATIVITY

Share Your Gift

Chicago Peace

“…it is yours, this gift. It is the birthright of every living Soul, but we limit ourselves by thought of limitation. Now, we must open up the doors of our consciousness and expand and expand and expand…” Ernest Holmes

“The great mystics have all agreed that man’s life is his to do with as he chooses, but that when he turns to the One, he will always receive inspiration from on High.” Ernest Holmes

Morning is my most creative time. It’s still dark outside when I take my laptop downstairs and write. This morning I glanced up to see my husband Bill’s painting of the sun just setting at Big Sur in California. I am in awe of his God given talent.

Spirit is always expressing through each of us so that we can lift the heart of others by sharing our gift. Excitement, exhilaration and joy will come to us when we share our gift.

Recently, when I presented a workshop based on my book, From Here to Serenity, A Spiritual Guide to Transform Your Life  a friend said, “You are in your element” and it was true. A lot of opportunities for growth have been presented to me since I wrote and published this inspiring book.

In her movie Louise Hay said she did one thing at a time as she was guided and in taking one step at a time she built a major publishing house. She didn’t know what the end result would be. She trusted and surrendered and because she did, more than she ever dreamed was given to her.

We can learn from Louise that when we trust, when we surrender, our life can flow in amazing ways. Mediate, pray and release and let the Creator take over. Do what your creative gift is and listen to your guidance. Surrender and release. That’s why the fourth step of Spiritual Mind Treatment is so important – surrender and release.

Affirmation: Today I am inspired and filled with joy as I give my gift to the world.

THE LIGHT

Be A Light in This World

“A divine force flows out from me into the world.
All I encounter are touched by the divine spark within me.”

Julia Cameron, Blessings

The real Self is…the place where God comes to a point of
Individualized and Personified Expression.
“I am the light of the world.”

The Science of Mind, page 332

Recently I went to a Minister and Practitioner Graduation. The theme song the choir sang was Light of the World. Since that time I haven’t been able to get those words out of my mind and many times during the day I find myself singing the words to myself–“Light of the World, Light of the World, you were born to be the Light of the World…” This morning I woke at 3 a.m. realizing that most of us don’t know the full extent of the truth about ourselves. We have forgotten that each and every one of us is The Light of the World.

Everyone needs a Practitioner at one time or another. Ministers and Practitioners have their own Practitioner who they work with when they are in a place of turmoil. When we are in a place of need, any and all of us can call a Practitioner to help us get back on track. We all must realize and know that we can find the Light within ourselves.

The answer to all of our questions and needs lies within. We have all the help we will ever want or crave. All of us have all of the wisdom, all of the love, all of the peace we could possible want or need for Spirit is always within us. We are born with it. God will be with us to the end of the world and even after that.

Affirmation

I have all the inspiration I will ever need for I was born to be the Light of the World.

ONE

One Life, One Mind, One God

Gail Manishor, Author of:
From Here to Serenity, A Spiritual Guide to Transform Your Life
http://gmanishor.com/

We have a small informal meditation group that meets in our home 3 times a week at 5 p.m. We chose 5 pm because that’s when many people meditate on the West Coast. Before the meditation we discuss any experiences, insights or breakthroughs we’ve had since our last meeting.

I recently read that the roots of individual giant redwood trees frequently grow intertwined with those of their neighbors. By “holding hands” underground, the roots form a network that allows the trees to withstand even great storms.

That day as we went into meditation I thought of the many souls who might be meditating at that very moment and even those who were not and I mentally joined hands with them. I felt the oneness of all life. We are all connected and supporting each other. It was a fulfilling experience for me and one which anyone can use in their own meditation.

God is so vast and so magnificent that it is impossible for us to truly comprehend. However, simply realizing at the level of our own ability we can get a glimpse that we all are a part of that One. We are all connected. Each and every one of us matters to each other whether we know it or not. It is so. As we think and meditate on the Oneness, we cannot help but think of the Creator and the Source of all that is. I believe this is the true spiritual life. This is the meaning of it all. God is and because God is, we are. As we meditate and think of the vastness, intelligence and power in this one mind which we call God, we realize how wonderful it all is. And so it is.

GRIEF

Today I Remember the Joy

Today I received a call from my cousin Sandy that her father, a favorite Uncle, made his transition this morning. My Uncle Richard was a big brother to me. He lived with my family when I was about 5 years old. I remember when he went into the Air Force and he was so handsome in  his uniform. All the girls were in love with him. I was 10 years old when he and my Aunt Ann married. Although I was old for a flower girl, I begged to be in the wedding and so I was. I still remember my dress (blue). It was very exciting. We always had a special bond. Always fun, he loved to tell stories of the past and laugh over them.

That is why I’m writing about handling grief today. I know it was time for my Uncle Rich to move on and that he was ready to go. I also know that it is hard to see a dear one suffer. It’s still hard to let them go.

I went to their 60th wedding anniversary party. Pictures below show Rich & Ann & me and in the picture on the right they are cutting their cake with a large picture of them on their wedding day behind them.

Today I remember the joy of knowing my beloved Uncle Richard and my dear Aunt Ann.

The following is an excerpt from my book:

Emotions aren’t always reasonable. A counselor or a support group can help us through the grieving process.

A Meditative Guide

Grief Recovery

At a time of loss in our life, whatever that loss may be, there are stages we must go through to get to recovery. Strong people sometimes attempt to go through it alone. Some try to put it off to a time when they are stronger and can handle it better. “Grief demands expression” says Robert Russell in his inspiring book Dry Those Tears.

As I look back, I sometimes feel as if I have lived many lives in this life. The end of each chapter of my life presented me with a chance for a new beginning. When a loss occurs, it is an opportunity to begin another exciting phase of life. Each day is a new day.

Many churches and community centers offer bereavement groups. A counselor may be needed to help us through this difficult process.

In reality there is no death, the soul is eternal. We live on. Ernest Holmes taught that life is an upward spiral, presenting expression on plane upon plane through eternity. We are eternal beings.

Life (God) gives us whatever it is we need to expand our soul’s growth. We are wherever we are in our life because that is exactly where we need to be to become more aware of the Divine within each of us. Every struggle we go through is a blessing in that it brings us closer to the truth of who we really are. We are creations of the God. We are Divine beings. We are Spirit expressing.

FAITH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS

Steps to Faith,

Perseverance and Endurance

Faith is more than believing, it is knowing. How do we get to that state of complete and strong faith?

  1. Ask Spirit for the faith that moves mountains. Ask, and it will be given to you. Persist in your pursuit of faith.
  2. Proceed as if you already have that faith. Speak as if you have it now. Your words have power.
  3. Pray unceasingly. Make everything you do a prayer. The mystic, Brother Lawrence, made every menial task he did a prayer. He was a lowly monk who washed the pots and pans in the kitchen and swept the floor of the monastery. Yet bishops and kings came from great distances just to be in his presence.
  4. Read and contemplate Chapter 2 of Practicing the Presence by Joel Goldsmith. Meditate on his words.
  5. Say the following affirmation many times every day.

Affirmation

I have the faith, strength and courage to endure. I know that God’s good for me is already here, and I am now ready to accept it.
