 A Meditative Guide

The Grateful Heart

When you look back at your life and think you just can’t go on, think about it another way. Life is a thread in the tapestry of eternity. Every incident that comes along in your life is but a strand in that thread.

When you are stuck in a difficult place, finding the right counselor can be essential to your recovery. Because they are not in your situation, they are able to remain objective and see the truth, which is that God is always in the midst of every condition. If one counselor doesn’t help you, don’t give up on counseling. Find a counselor who does.

Open up your perspective of your life to see the whole of eternity spread out before you. Imagine it. Find a peaceful place – one that inspires you. For you it might be sitting under a giant tree in a garden, being at the mountains or the beach, or somewhere out in God’s beautiful world and think about all there is to be grateful for. Think about what may come along just around the corner that might be something you’ve always longed for. The more thanks you give to God, the more good things will come into your life. Just keep giving thanks. Every time something good happens, even something small, give thanks for it. More good will come your way. It makes no difference to God if you are grateful, but it will change your perspective and your life.

Begin keeping a Gratitude Journal. Every night write down what you are grateful for that day. You will see the blessings you are receiving daily.

Gratitude is another step on your path to a higher consciousness.

I am thankful for all the good God has showered on me. I am now ready to live my life in joy and gratitude.
