HAPPY 2012

I’m Back!

Quan Yin in Gail's Garden

Today is a day to make a new beginning.

Did you make a New Year’s Resolution?

I did! I have decided to get back to writing and be productive starting today.

One of my favorite quotes is “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoyce in it.” I am so grateful for all that I have and all that I can do. I know that many are unhappy and searching for a way to bring themselves out of a slump. So here are some suggestions:

Find the perfect book. I have just started reading one that I am finding perfect for me at this moment.
The Power of Kindness: The Unexpected Benefits of Leading a Compassionate Life written by Piero Ferrucci.
The forward is by the Dalai Lama. I highly recommend this inspirational book.

Exercise: Start slow and build up. Exercise produces endorphins and I always have a feeling of accomplishment
when I exercise.

Meditate at least once a day. Meditation is the path to enlightenment and don’t we all want that?

A new perspective: Take a new look at the possibilites for your life. Look at your life in a new way.

Ask Spirit (God) for inspiration and guidance. “Ask and you will receive. Seek and you will find.”

These are Universal Truths.

Blessings to you all in this new and exciting year of 2012.

BLOGGING

Why I Started Blogging

Gail Manishor, Author of
From Here to Serenity, a Spiritual Guide to Transform Your Life

I recently found Penelope Trunk’s Blog and I am very impressed. She has some great tips about starting a blog. I started a blog before I even knew what blogs are all about. Now I am reading anything and everything I can about Blogging. In her Blog I found Penelope’s Guide to Blogging. She’s an excellent and entertaining writer and I’m just starting. I have always been a late bloomer. You can check out Penelope’s Blog at http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/  Thanks, Penelope.

“Are you sure this (Blogging) is really necessary?” I asked the more experienced authors. The answer always came back, “Yes.”

What began as necessary work for marketing  my book has grown into an addiction of major proportions. At least once and usually twice a day I check the stats on my website, my EzineArticles.com and GailsSerenity Blog. Can you believe I even keep a log on all of these and get excited when I see one new reader coming onboard? Am I being a little excessive? You might ask.  I proudly proclaim I am now an official Bloggaholic!

CREATIVITY

Do What You Love

When I was very young, my father used to say, “You can be a secretary, a nurse or a teacher.  Then you can get married.”

Life didn’t exactly turn out the way I’d planned. It’s the same old story all over again. All my life I’ve been very practical. I went to college and met my Prince Charming. I quit school, went to work and he went to school. He completed college and went to work. I had babies and went back to work. That marriage ended after 18 years. I went back to school and earned my degree in Business Management.

In my spiritual studies I’ve heard for years, “Do what you love and the money will come.” I’m doing what I love which is writing.  I absolutely love writing. I am also a Licensed Practitioner, which includes counseling, meditation, prayer and study. These are my sacred callings.

Through my spiritual studies I’ve learned that everyone is a creative genius. We have only to realize it and explore our special abilities. As we do, we grow in that particular area. Mine has turned out to be writing. When we realize we are creative we can build on our gifts. There really is no limit to what we can do once we begin on our path and do what we were always meant to.

Bee Pollinating Flower

The bee pollinating the flower is a creative genius following his creative role in the flow of life.  Each of us can follow our own creative role by using our special gifts. We all have them to a greater or lesser extent. It takes work and time to develop our gifts. Most of us don’t sit down at the piano at the age of 5 and play a concert before royalty as Mozart did. Yet even Mozart practiced.

I didn’t see myself as creative. Others saw it before I did. Now I see it.

We are all creative Beings. We always have access to the Source. You can’t say you are not creative. Don’t ever say that because your words are powerful and what you say is what you get.

The more you create in whatever area you choose to create the more your creative gift grows.

If you love it, do it. Do what you love and love what you do. Your life will take on wings

WHY I WRITE

Writing Makes My World Go Round

Tara (Quan Yin)

Writing is an adventure. I am not an outliner. I don’t plan. I just get an idea and go with it. It’s fun for me. I keep working on something until I think, “Well this looks good.” or “This is interesting to me. Maybe it’ll be interesting to others.” I write and rewrite and rewrite again. It is a process and I enjoy the process.

I have lots of interests, but my foremost interest is spiritual. I love to read anything by Joel Goldsmith. Right now I’m reading his Living Between Two Worlds.

Reading Goldsmith takes me to a place of thinking beyond the surface of what we can see. As I think about who I am and what I am, I think about the Divine within me. I know that we are creations of the God that is everywhere present. The Omnipresence of God is boggling to the human mind and we can only try to wrap our human mind around it.

Goldsmith discusses the three qualities of God, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient. Omnipotent, the Power that is God, Omnipresent, God is everywhere, in through and around all things; and Omnipotent, the Power that is God. This discussed about and studied through the centuries. So I like to write my thoughts of it all with the purpose of clarifying it in my own mind – understanding it as much as I can.

Bill and I found the above wooden carving of Tara in Maui on our first trip to Hawaii. We fell in love with her and had her shipped to our home where she graces and brings peace to our living room. She is the Hindu version of Quan Yin, the goddess of Peace and compassion.
