“Your children are not your children, They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.”  Kahlil Gibran

If you’ve been reading my last few Blogs, you will probably realize that I am in love with the writings of Kahlil Gibran and have been reading and rereading The Prophet.

I have 4 children, a girl and 3 boys. They are grown now. Before I read Gibran I knew that it was necessary for me to release my children. Not release them from my heart, but release them from my advice. I have let them live their own lives. I have attempted to live the best life I could as an example, but not a perfect example. I’ve made many mistakes. But I did the best I could at the time. I am proud of and love  all of them deeply. Now in my later years. I see them. Each is different. Each is special to me. I am grateful that I’ve had them in my life. Like this hummingbird mother, I let them fly.

Action Steps to Gratitude

Abundance comes into our lives in so many ways. If you decide to take the steps below if can take you to a place of peace, joy and wonder.

  1. Start a Gratitude Journal and keep it on your bedside table. Write in it every night thanking God for everything good that happened that day. When you see how many things you have to be thankful for, you will begin to open yourself to a wonderful new life.
  2. Live in an attitude of Gratitude. Give thanks all day for everything good that happens. Give thanks, and as night follows day, more blessings will come your way.
  3. Read the chapter on Gratitude in I Had It All the Time by Alan Cohen.
  4. Read Blessings by Julia Cameron.
  5. Now is the time to turn your life over to God, knowing in complete faith that all will be handled perfectly. Surrender your life to God
  6. Repeat the following affirmation many times during the day.

I am thankful for all the good God has showered on me. I am now ready to live my life in joy and gratitude.
