CHOICE
My daughter called me to tell me that a high school boyfriend who had remained a friend, died suddenly at the age of forty-five. That same day, my granddaughter’s friend was killed in an automobile accident on the way back from basketball practice. Also on that same day two police officers, best friends of her uncle, were shot and killed in the line of duty. All of this loss hit my daughter and her friends suddenly. What do you do? Where do you turn? How do you live with this kind of tragedy?

Life comes to us in a series of ups and downs. Life may seem good, bad, terrible, or tragic. In Science of Mind, we learn how to handle the ups and downs of life through classes, reading, and meditation. A wonderful peace comes from building our awareness of the presence of the indwelling God – always with us, wherever we are. We learn that all is God and that wherever God is, there is good. We learn to make a choice – we can choose to know that God’s Divine Plan is taking place. We learn that what looks like tragedy to us is a thread in the tapestry of life. There are blessings that we can’t foresee, but they are there nevertheless.

Let’s choose to have faith in God’s Divine plan for all of us. Let’s choose to take the time to go within and feel that deep peace of Spirit. It’s always there for us, for we are never alone. What a blessing it is to know that!

AFFIRM: Today I choose to see my life in the context of God’s Divine Plan. I choose to take the time to live more consciously in the Presence. I allow life to proceed in the perfect way in God’s perfect timing.

LOVE ONE ANOTHER

A big part of my philosophy of life is being non-judgmental. It’s not always easy. But it can change our lives for the better when we live and let live.

Yet, when someone isn’t doing something the way we believe it should be done, we often want to fix it. Sometimes with the best of intentions we try to set them straight. We criticize and someone else adds their thought on the subject, and pretty soon it becomes a huge issue. That’s how to become a destroyer rather than a builder.

Let’s always remember that the other person is as much of God’s Light as we are. Love and praise can go a long way toward making a situation better. Let’s look for the good and the joy in every person and every situation. Think about it.

Affirmation: Today I see “The Christ” in each person I meet. Today I greet everyone with love.

GOOD VS EVIL

GOOD VS EVIL

Sometimes bad things happen. There is bad in the world. Who can deny it? This life and all that happens in it is an illusion. We are spiritual beings walking a human existence. Evil is not a living entity. It has no power in itself. It is caused by the ignorance, superstition and wrongdoing of man.

In his inspiring book The Pathway of Roses, Christian Larson says “When you see evil, do not become indifferent; proceed at once to add to the good; when the good is on the increase evil is on the decrease.” This is such a beautiful thought I cannot help but dwell on it. The more loving kindness we give and receive, the more good there is in the world. It means we can do something to dispel evil, and that is by seeing good and by doing good. We do not fight against it because what we resist persists.

There is a feeling and a knowing deep within each one of us that good overcomes evil. When we shine the light of truth on evil and wrong thought, good will come forth out of the darkness and shine its light on us and our world. “I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.”
Affirmation: I know that God’s Love is all there is and I stand in the Light of God’s Love at all times.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

  LOVE IS ALWAYS IN THE AIR

         when it is in your heart

“When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.” And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it find you worthy, directs your course.”  The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran.

To me this means that sometimes people come into our lives that we may immediately say to ourselves, “This is NOT the one for me.” But love can come into your heart and you may realize that “This is truly the ONE FOR ME.” Love is not always predictable. But love for others friends and sweethearts is beautiful and can be a gift to us.

As we come closer and closer to Valentines Day I can’t help but think of love – Love between husband and wife, love for our children and our friends, love for this Earth and all of those upon it.

God is Love and I know that we all the ability and capacity to give  love generously seeking nothing in return. It is because we have so much love within us that  we can give it in such abundance.

Gibran’s words have much to teach us if we would but listen. What I hear from his words are that we owe our hearts to the One, which I call God. We love those people that we hold dear be it our mate, our children, our parents and friends. But first in our hearts must be the One from which we all come.

People come and go in our lives. But there is one that never leaves and that is the Divine Spirit that is the Creator and the Source.

So many of us hold back from complete love. We lose so much by holding our love back. We protect ourselves from hurt sometimes at great loss. I’m not telling you to give your physical love at what could be a danger to you. If you have put up a wall around yourself for protection, break down that wall and let others see the wonderful you that you really are.

Listen to your intuition. What I’m saying is to “be love.” Let others see the real you and who you really are. Let them see  you as approachable.
